eBay Listing Problems: Bulk Listing Tool & AI Descriptions Not Working 5-27-25
eBay sellers are reporting multiple problems with trying to create and manage listings, including a broken Bulk Listing Tool and AI Descriptions not generating.
The Bulk Listing tool problems appear to have been occurring over the last few days, with seller saying they are unable to edit existing listings or create new ones using this tool.
I’m trying to bulk update all my listings. Impossible. Why?
Never Ever had any problems with bulk listings before this morning.
I have used it for years…A little circle just goes around and around and around. Thank you in advance for your help!
Why is it taking so long for eBay to fix the issue with the Bulk Selling Tool?
For the last 3 days I haven't able to utilize the tool as I get an infinite loading screen when I open any pictures or try to make any changes. When I click out the entire page goes unresponsive and needs to be refreshed. I've seen other sellers on forums ask about this with no response and the issue persists through different web engines so I have to assume the issue is on the side of eBay.
Some reports indicate the Bulk Listing problems may be happening mostly on Chrome, so it's worth trying a different browser as a workaround if you are experiencing these issues.
Bulk Listing Tool Not Working
For the past few days I have been trying to use the bulk listing/editing tool, and it either will not load or just gets hung up when trying to change anything? Is anyone else experiencing this issue.
Some users are reporting problems with bulk list tool and bulk edit tool are specific to Chrome. If you're using Chrome, use a different browser until this is fixed.
Other sellers also report that the AI Description Generator is no longer working in the listing form, also appearing to stuck or hang on loading and never actually completing the action of generating text, and this problem appears to have been happening for at least a week.
AI Tool in listing appears to be down
When creating a listing the AI Tool appears to be down. System says writing and never responds. Can't get a hold of someone at eBay.
AI discription has stopped working and freezes the page until refreshed
AI description has stopped working and freezes the page until refreshed. Is it just my computer or are others seeing similar?
Other sellers indicate this issue may be specific to using FireFox.
AI Description Generator Not Working in FF 138.0.4
Title is self explanatory, and I am going out on a limb to say that it probably happened when it updated. I only use the function to tweak descriptions and lately the listings I have done hasn't required the tool.
I love Firefox and I don't want to change.. .or I am old and don't want to change, take your pick. Anyone else having this issue? Did you do anything to help? I have done it all except change browsers.
I was able to replicate the issue - using FireFox, the AI description generator gets stuck in a loop of animated colors moving across the screen and the "writing" status but never completes the process.

But accessing the same draft under the same account logged into Chrome, the AI description generator functions normally and completes the process to fill in generated text quickly - so again, unfortunately the temporary workaround for this issue may be to try using a different browser.
Despite many reports of both problems, neither have been added to the list of Current Known Technical issues in the eBay community, but hopefully they will be acknowledged and added soon now that community staff are back from the Memorial Day weekend holiday.
Sellers who are experiencing these problems are also encouraged to click the question mark in the bottom right on the screen and use the pop up option to report a technical issue - typically, the more reports eBay receives, the higher priority an issue will be to fix.

These are just the latest in near daily business impacting technical issues that continue to plague eBay and disrupt both the buyer and seller experience on the site.
Back in 2019, eBay and then CEO Devin Wenig faced activist investor pressure from Elliott Management calling for changes at the company, with constant site glitches and technical misexecution called out explicitly as one of the major problems plaguing the platform.
Six years later, it's shocking just how much of Elliott's "Enhancing eBay" plan still rings true today.

Wenig infamously said at eBay Open 2018 that technical glitches are unacceptable and really pissed him off.
eBay has since removed the video they had posted on YouTube of the eBay Open 2018 Q&A segment, but the interviewer asked:
There've been a lot of site glitches recently on eBay. What are you guys doing to get rid of them?
And Wenig responded:
Here's the simple answer - unacceptable, unacceptable. And we're making a lot of changes. When you make changes there are times that things happen but that's not an excuse and it's not ok with me and this summer in particular there have been a number of issues that directly impacted sellers like people not being able to see their view counts and a few other things and it's just not ok.
I'm extremely proud of a lot of things we've done, I'm not proud of that and in fact I hold my team accountable and it's not important, it's an internal matter but, we made changes to people and teams because shipping product that isn't ready is not ok. It's not ok with me and it's not ok with my team.
So the short answer is it's not like we don't get it. We are making a lot of changes and I want to make those changes, we need to make those changes, but making changes and then having to back up and fix things is not cool and I totally get it. Most of the issues from this summer have now been remedied but I was pissed off.
Mazen Rawashdeh was Chief Infrastructure and Architecture Officer at the time, but somehow managed to escape the wrath of a "pissed off" Wenig.
He was then promoted to Chief Technology Officer in 2019, after a brief period where he co-led Core Product & Tech along with Mohan Patt when Steve Fisher was being shuffled from CTO to SVP Payments "in order to focus on a personal matter."
Patt and Fisher both later left the company, but Rawashdeh remains as CTO today and has recently been given even more control and responsibility as part of an executive shakeup which saw Chief Product Officer Eddie Garcia step down earlier this week.

How much longer will investors tolerate this ongoing technical misexecution before the Board is once again pressured to make changes at the company?
